This film, created to mark our nation’s 250th anniversary, unveils an untold story of America, narrated through the voices and legacy of one of its founding families.

American history began not with the Pilgrims, but with visionaries and exiles—individuals who crossed the ocean seeking possibility rather than purity. Their narrative reminds us that democracy is fragile, tolerance and liberty require constant defense, and true freedom demands the humility to extend it to others, irrespective of race, religion, or origin.

Entirely shot using an iPhone, a laptop, AI apps, and a drone, this project captures the essence of independent filmmaking—innovation driven by necessity and passion. I personally composed the film’s full musical score, creating themes that reflect its emotional and historical journey.

Smith Yewell, a first-time filmmaker, is an award-winning entrepreneur celebrated for his leadership and innovation. As a recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, his companies have achieved numerous Inc. 5000 and Technology Fast 50 accolades.

In addition to his business successes, Yewell served honorably in the U.S. Army, earning the Bronze Star Medal for his service during Operation Desert Storm. His venture into filmmaking mirrors the same curiosity, courage, and purpose that have characterized his career across various industries.
