Aquilone is about an intergenerational friendship between two unlikely people, a young Italian man and an older American woman. We witness their joy as they explore the practicality and symbolism of making and flying a kite. Being a people pleaser she delights in his happiness. The untold story is what lies under her continuous smile: a coming of age of an older woman claiming her voice and movement behind the mask.

Benjie Lasseau uses her art to explore her hidden dark side and to challenge her childhood belief that she could never be a real artist like her father, the jazz icon Benny Goodman.

Aquilone (Kite) Two Art Stories explores the coming of age of an older woman claiming her voice and movement behind the mask. Lasseau has studied with Anna Deavere Smith, aerial improv artist Terry Sendgraff, and modern dancer Anne Bluethenthal. Benjie has created eight autobiographical solo performances combining movement, text and installations.
