"Behind the Door" is an award-winning narrative short film featured at the NY Independent Art Film Festival, directed by Nodar Marshanishvili from Georgia.

The film intricately unfolds the life of Temo, a Georgian immigrant and skilled locksmith who has successfully established a quiet and seemingly content existence in the bustling city of Berlin. This new life, however, is constructed on the foundations of his past, which he has meticulously avoided confronting. The narrative begins to unravel when Temo unexpectedly encounters a childhood music teacher, a figure from his past who stirs long-buried memories and emotions.

This chance meeting acts as a catalyst, reigniting Temo's thoughts about his estranged twin sibling, a person he has not seen or spoken to in many years. This sibling, now a transgender woman, has embarked on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance that challenges Temo's understanding of identity and familial bonds.

As the plot progresses, Temo finds himself grappling with the complexities of his own identity, shaped by his Georgian heritage and the cultural nuances that accompany it. The film delves deeply into the emotional and cultural divides that exist not only between Temo and his twin but also within Temo himself. He is caught between the traditional values instilled in him during his upbringing and the progressive, often challenging realities of life in Germany. This internal conflict compels Temo to embark on a profound journey of self-reflection and personal growth. Throughout the film, viewers are treated to poignant moments of reconciliation, where Temo begins to confront his fears and prejudices. Through these transformative experiences, he learns the importance of acceptance and the profound impact of unconditional love, ultimately leading him to a deeper understanding of his twin's journey and his own place in the world.
