Martin Scorsese has revealed the 30 best New York movies

The renowned director Martin Scorsese has unveiled the 30 greatest New York films for a series he is organizing at the city's Roxy Cinema.

Named Living, Breathing New York, the series celebrates the release of the thriller Pet Shop Days, which Scorsese executive produced and is set in New York. The director has a unique connection to the city, which has been the backdrop for many of his most acclaimed works.

“There are countless ‘New York filmmakers’ – each with their own unique vision,” Scorsese stated in a press release. “I collaborated with the city when I created (my own films like) Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The King of Comedy, GoodFellas, Bringing Out the Dead, and The Wolf of Wall Street.”
