In the midst of a pandemic-ridden New York City, observe the unwavering dedication and resolve of a youth choir as they endeavor to preserve their art against all odds. Through compelling storytelling and original music by prominent contemporary composers, this documentary captures the resilience, creativity, and unbeatable spirit of a generation of young musicians navigating through unprecedented times. It demonstrates that even in the darkest moments, music has the ability to unite, heal, and inspire.



"This Time Round" is a feature-length documentary helmed by Francisco J. Nunez and Ansley Sawyer. The film has been selected for the New York Independent Art Film Fest and will be shown at the Producers Club on November 17th.



Francisco J. Núñez, a MacArthur Fellow and Musical America’s 2018 Educator of the Year, is a composer, conductor, producer, director, visionary, and a leading figure in music education. He is also the artistic director and founder of the Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC), recognized globally for its diversity and artistic excellence. Núñez has garnered accolades such as ASCAP’s Victor Herbert Award, the New York Choral Society’s Choral Excellence Award, and Bang on a Can’s Visionary Award.



ANSLEY SAWYER, the co-director of the documentary, is a film producer based in New York City. She draws inspiration from her mentor Brandon Li and the fieldwork of Yann Arthus-Bertrand. Sawyer's work has been featured on various platforms, including Vimeo Staff Picks, BBC, National Geographic, and Smithsonian. Specializing in capturing compelling human stories, she has produced documentaries for various organizations and events, showcasing her passion for storytelling and innovative filmmaking techniques.
